OUR CONTRACTS WITH THE REGIONAL DISTRICT
HIRRA has renewable contracts with the Regional District of Comox-Strathcona
for the provision of the following services on Hornby Island:

Fire Protection and First Responders

Recycling and Solid Waste Disposal Program
-
Community Hall
-
Mount Geoffrey Regional Nature Park

Comfort Stations ("Privy Council")
HIRRA performs these services on behalf of the Regional District, with typical financial controls, and funding paid quarterly. These contracts may be terminated by either party upon six months' notice. The Regional District holds back funds for property and liability insurance, which HIRRA is to carry, for Regional District administration costs, and for any deficit incurred by HIRRA in the performance of the services. At its Annual General Meeting, HIRRA elects a committee to manage each service. The employees of the services are HIRRA's and not the Regional District's.
